Growing his hair out

This picture was taken Jan 6, right after a haircut.

This picture was taken today almost 4 months after his haircut. I see him every day so when I saw these two pics next to each other I was amazed and had to share.

Another Tooth is out....

Ethan has had the second tooth loose for almost 2 months. He asked me if he could have a piece of candy tonight and I replied "if I can pull your tooth out you can have two pieces of candy". He walked into his room and brought out a cloth diaper (we use these as snot rags now, instead of burp clothes).

I had to laugh because he really wanted two pieces of candy.

It took 3 pulls and the tooth was out. I wish it was really that easy. Each pull was about 30 minutes apart. So it really took 3 pulls and an hour and a half.

To keep his mind off of me pulling on his tooth I told him he could pinch me as hard as he wanted to while I'm pulling on his tooth. It worked because he was concentrating on when he was going to start pinching my arm. He could start when I started pulling.

About 30 minutes after all this he remembered the candy. He was so excited he was going to eat two dumb dumb lollipops.

Well Melissa wanted to see a picture of Ethan's new shoes. So tonight I had him put them on to take a picture. Then I realized he didn't have socks on.

I told him to pose. This is what he did. He is so darn cute.

New Shoes

Ethan is really rough on shoes. The pair he wears to school looked beat up after the first day he wore them. I know he needs new shoes but I just haven't gotten around to picking a pair up.

This weekend Ethan hung out with grandpa and grandpa noticed his shoes and told him he would buy him a new pair. Well they ran out of time so grandpa sent the money home so we could pick him up a new pair. We didn't have time yesterday so I told him when he gets home from school we will run up to the mall.

Of course the first thing out of his mouth is "when are we getting my new shoes mommy?". We headed to the mall and he picked out a pair of black low top converse shoes. He was so excited he wore them out. He usually takes his shoes off the moment we walk in the house but he didn't with these. He kept them on for a couple hours and then I noticed he took them off and placed them so neatly next to the table. He really likes his new shoes. Thank you Grandpa!

Another funny story.....

I needed my dad to watch Ethan on Saturday night for a couple of hours. Well my dad said he would pick Ethan up Saturday morning and keep him til Sunday afternoon. Thats cool with me.

The night before he went to grandpa's I told him he needed to go to bed no later than 9 pm when he was with grandpa. He cut his eyes towards me and said..."when I'm with grandpa I can do anything I want to". I tried not to laugh but I really couldn't argue with him because I know its so true.

I called dad later Saturday morning and asked if Ethan ate breakfast and he said yes. I then asked what did he eat...donuts? and he said no he had chips. Only with grandpa can you eat chips for breadfast.

Honor Roll

Today Ethan came home with his report card and this Honor Roll Certificate. I'm so proud of him!
Only 6 more weeks of school and then my baby will be a first grader.

Rainy weekend

It was all over the news we were going to have bad weather this weekend. Friday night I got home just in time for the first storm to hit. I wasn't complaining since we have really not had a lot of rain this year. Saturday morning I went to my friend Lisa's house. I was there until around 2 pm. At that time I decided to leave due to the weather. I wanted to get home before it flooded. I knew my neighborhood is known for flooding.

About half way home the rain started to come down. I found myself with my wipers on as fast as they would go and driving less than 20 miles an hour and still could not see the road. I was about 2 miles from home and turned onto Beamer then thats when I noticed the street was already flooding. I knew that it was only going to get worse the further I went. I decided to turn around and head to a near by gas station down the road. It was very scary because I've seen the road the gas station was on flood too. I made it to the gas station around 3 pm. The normal drive time from my friends house to the gas station should take 15 minutes and it took me an hour.

I pull into the gas station and waited. Thank God they had clean restrooms. I had to use them a couple times. Around 6 pm Russell was able to make it to the gas station but still had to go through high water on Beamer, but he has a truck so it was ok. Our plan was to have him pick me up and then later we would go back to get my car. We ended up finding a way home that was not flooded and then went back and got my car.

This is the really funny part. After being home about ten minutes I got up off the couch and headed to the restroom and Russell said "Monique you had a blow out". I turned and looked at him puzzled. Then realized my jeans had a nice rip and you could see my underwear. I had used the restroom at the gas station a couple times, so who knows when the rip happened but I'm sure it was there when I went into the store. Russell tried to make me feel better and said "maybe it happened when you got into the truck". He is so sweet.

I'm very thankful my car did not get damaged in the rain, and I'm very thankful the hole in my pants wasn't bigger. :)

A Day at the Beach

Since Ethan was off of school on Good Friday and I was off work we headed to the beach. This was our first trip to Galveston since hurricane Ike visited last summer. Ethan couldn't wait to get to the beach. As soon as we reached the bridge he knew we were almost there. He was pointing out every boat in the water while asking many questions about the boats. My knowledge about boats is pretty much nothing, so I wasn't that helpful with his questions.

The next landmark he was looking for is the Sea Wall. As I turn on the sea wall he says "mommy the sea wall is smaller". I had to think a moment and then remembered Ike. I said Ike took the beach away and so the sea wall looks smaller. They have to rebuild all the beaches so now the water comes right up to the sea wall so you cannot walk on that part of the beach anymore. He thought for a moment and moved on to the next questions, which all had to do with the damage from Ike.

We finally find the beach we can drive on and park. I pulled out our beach stuff and chairs, while Ethan was figuring out what to do first. He built a sand castle with our friend Ashley and then he decided to get into the COLD water with Ashley. It was hard for me to put my feet into the water it was so cold. Then we break out the bread to feed the seagulls. Ethan has never feed the seagulls before so he really had a great time.

After a few hours at the beach we headed home. I took the long way home going all the way down the sea wall then back up to the freeway. I had to see the changes in Galveston after Ike. I showed Ethan places that stores used to be and where the peer used to be. I've attached a few pictures from our trip.
