Fishing Trip with Steve

All week Ethan has been waiting to go fishing with Steve today. Ethan stayed the night with Steve so they could get up at 4 am to go fishing. Steve is a HUGE fisherman.

I get a call about 9:30 this morning from Ethan telling me about his fishing trip. He said he caught two fish, one flounder and another one that I forgot the name. Steve is in a fishing tournament so I went and picked Ethan up where they were fishing so Steve could continue to fish.

We get in the car and I asked Ethan if he is tired he said "no". I'm thinking he is so tired he doesn't know it. It is now 10:45 am and remember he has been up since 4 am. So I continue with the questions and he tells me all about his fishing experience. Then I ask him "what did you do last night after I dropped you off at Steve's?" he said "Steve made chocolate chip cookies and we ate them". I said how many did he make?. Ethan said "Eleven, I had five and Steve had five and we split the last one". Now this is why Steve has no kids. Thats all I'm going to say. :)

Ethan was asleep in less than 10 mins down the road. I knew he was tired. I ended up making a few pit stops on the way home so he could sleep. He woke up about an hour later.

Science Project...

Ethan is finishing up Kindergarten. He has a science project due on Tuesday the day after memorial day. He was able to pick out what subject he wanted. He picked North American Snakes, and of those snakes he picked the Rattlesnake.

I have a wonderful color printer at work so I printed lots of pictures of Rattlesnakes. There are 16 different types. I had no idea there was so many.

So on my way home I called Ethan to tell him I printed the pictures and we will work on the project this weekend. He said...and I quote..."I have to bring a rattlesnake to school for my project". I kept my cool and thought about what in the world should I say. Knowing that rattlesnakes are very poisonous. So I said "honey where are you going to get a rattlesnake?" he said "the pet store". I had to laugh. Then I told him I don't think that is a good idea. He didn't like me saying that and was very insistant that he must bring a rattlesnake to school.

I think I have finally got Ethan to understand that he cannot bring a real rattlesnake to school.

Field Day

Ethan's School had Field Day on Friday. Here he is doing the Sack Race. Look at how long his hair is getting. I wish I could post every picture of him jumping down the field.

I think they did about 8 races from the sack race, balloon pop, tire roll, carrying the torch (which was a plunger and you had to carry a ball on it down the field and back), 3 leg race and of course tug-of-war.
I know his team won something but they don't get the ribbons until later this week.

It was great to see all of Shelly's family and meet all of Mark's family.

Talk to the hand mommy....

I came home this evening and as always I ask Ethan to see his folder. He started with I got in yellow today because of "blah blah blah". That's all I hear. This is the 3rd time in two weeks. Is school out yet?

The rule is when he gets in yellow he has to write sentences. So I'm telling him how many sentences he as to write and he throws his hand up and says...."talk to the hand". Of course I've heard this phrase before but not from my 6 year old. I'm thinking I've never told him that. As I laughed I grabbed him and started tickling him and said "where in the world did you hear that" he said "a friend". So we laughed for a minute and then I made him write 83 sentences.

I know what you're thinking....83 sentences is alot but I usually ask him to tell me how many is enough. He said tonight 40 I said double that. Then he had to write 3 more for pushing his feet in the back of my seat in the car. Its a math lesson too..... 40 plus 40 plus 3.
